WHAT TO EXPECT ON YOUR MILFORD TRIP December 2024

What to expect on your Coach Tour

Take a well-earned day off driving and allow our team of professional and experienced driver guides share the very best of the Fiordland National Park with you on this all-inclusive full day tour.

The choice is yours. You can opt to begin your journey from one of our pick up points in Queenstown, or be transported back in time as you travel to the heart of this world famous Heritage Site departing from Te Anau.

The trip begins with an early morning departure from Queenstown and a two-hour drive through Southland finest farming country before arriving at Te Anau, the gateway to Fiordland. Here is a good opportunity to fuel up on coffee, stretch your legs and load up on screen time, as you are about to enter the land that Wi-Fi has blissfully forgotten.

Once the Te Anau crew have boarded, the coach departs for one of the world’s most scenic drives. Our talented and knowledgeable guides have unique and insightful stories to share, and spill the secrets of the beautiful backyard as you travel through lush rainforest, glacier carved valleys, alpine lookouts and much more. Enjoy spectacular short walks and incredible photo stops at sites such as Eglinton Valley, Mirror Lakes and Monkey Creek before arriving at the main event, magical Milford Sound.

On arrival at Milford Sound, board a comfortable catamaran for a spectacular exploration of the region’s most famous fiord. As the boat travels the length of the fiord to the Tasman Sea, our welcoming crew will share what they know about their place, its wildlife, waterfalls, and fascinating history.

Indulge in a tea, coffee or something a little stronger from the bar and enjoy your complimentary lunch before the boat arrives at Stirling Falls waterfall for a refreshing opportunity. Be the first person to feel the spray from this pure glacial melt as the bow noses close to the falls!

On return to the wharf, board the coach for a well earned feet up on a purely enchanting day as the coach returns first to Te Anau, and then on to Queenstown.

Return trip time from Queenstown is 12 hours; 8 hours from Te Anau.
